Human beings are most wonderful creature of the world. Child is always innocent and pious. A child is remained a child whether s/he belongs to an elite class family or a labor class family. School is second pious place where children from different societies and cultures study under a roof. Their family background may be different but school provides education for each and every one.

Educator, parent and educational institutions provide a wonderful platform for learning. These three pillars train students to become man of values. We can use different means and modes for inculcating human values i.e. self awareness, love, respect, importance of discipline, strong will power, determination, punctuality etc. among students. Our motto is to develop an individual as an integrated world citizen. I think, inculcating essential human values helps a person to perceive world in a wider perspective.

Educator, parent and educational institutions try to sensitize the human values which are of course inbuilt in every child. Learning is always a complex phenomenon. Either we learn complex topics of different subject or we learn values of life. We become alert citizen when we get right parent, right school and right educators. Everyone shows us right path in our journey of life. Every parent, society, culture and state tries to develop essential human values. We used to learn different human values through beautiful narration of our elders family member. Now, child watches different videos to learn values. Human values are just as essential as we breathe fresh air. Both fresh airs and human values give us a new life. Human values make us alive in this materialistic and sophisticated E-gadgets world.

Handling 21st Century Kids a Challenging Task

We are wise educator. We handle 21st century Android apps enabled generation. Kids love to spend more time on Electronic gadgets. They are least motivated to talk with their peers, parent and elder members of family at the same time parents also spends much time on Electronic Gadgets. Intentionally or unintentionally parents are busy with Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social platform. This creates a void between parent and kids. They are sharing same room, same food and same bed but using different electronic gadgets at the same time. Family members are present under a roof but minds are busy consciously or unconsciously in virtual world.

Children may show rigid behaviour and naughtiness in their nature but ultimately they are innocent kids. We conducted an experiment with 400kids for evaluating their observation skill and learning skill i.e.

  • How much they know about themselves?
  • Are they able to identify their necessity?
  • Are they able to identify their weakness and strength?
  • Do they know values of love and respect in their life?
  • Do they know values of will power and determination?
  • Do they know values of good habits?
  • Do they differentiate between good habit and bad habit?

We included students from 1st to 9th classes (5-14 years). We asked them to write 5 promises which they would like to do with themselves for coming New Year. What are the areas which they wish to improve in next year. The result of was wonderful. Almost 80 percent students know that they have been doing certain things which they think as inappropriate and they felt the need to improve those behaviors. They felt that:-

They fight with brother and sister which are not good human values.

They do not listen their parent which is not good human values.

They talk in the class when their teacher is teaching (which are not good human values)

They have shown love for nature and animal.

They know the values of punctuality and importance of discipline in their life.

They know the values of love and respect for family and elder members of society.

They know the importance of good communication skill.

95percent students felt that their subject (Hindi, English, Math, Science and Social Science) is weak and they will work hard and do more practice to improve in concerned area. She realized that she has committed a mistake which was not appropriate. Child knows the values of good habits in his/her life. It was amazed to read Ms. Anushka promise. A brilliant girl (10 years) wrote that “I promise to live in the present moment and try not to worry about the past or future”. I personally know her. She is only child of her parent. She does not feel secure in a group. She is the best when she has to perform all alone but tears comes on her face quickly when something does not happen according to her wish. I was completely stuck while reading her statement. We need to awake a child. We need to sensitize a child. When a child becomes a sensible; s/he becomes an integrated personality.

A good teacher’s success lies in making a student good citizen of the world and in enriching his knowledge in all aspects to become a good human being. We are facilitator for our kids. We nurture our kids in right direction. Our sole purpose is to nurture them, train them and equipped them with different human values (self awareness, love, and respect, importance of discipline, strong will power, determination, and punctuality). No ridiculous fears. No debilitating anger.” If educators establish this culture at school premises, no doubt at all we will inculcate the value of ‘live and let live’ in learners’ community. We are educators. We make a big difference.
